The exFAT or Extended File Allocation Table is a proprietary computer file system introduced by Microsoft Corporation for embedded devices in Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and in Microsoft Windows Vista SP1. This file system is specially suited for the flash drives. The exFAT file system can be used where NTFS file system isn’t the feasible solution, because of the data structure overhead and where the directory restrictions or file size of FAT are not acceptable. The main advantages of exFAT file system over its previous versions include the followings:
- Scalability to the large drive sizes.
- File size bound of 264 bytes (16 exbibytes), increased from 232 bytes (4 GB) in FAT32 file system.
- Delete and free space allocation performance improved with the introduction of free space bitmap.
- Supports TFAT (Transaction-Safe FAT File System).
- Stipulation for OEM-definable constraints for customizing file system for particular device qualities.
Although, exFAT is an advanced and powerful file system, but like other file system it may also face some issues that results into file system corruption and cause data loss. Such issues require exFAT recovery to be sorted out.
The exFAT file system corruption might occur due to a number of reasons such as virus infection, improper system shutdown, registry corruption, operating system malfunction, user mistakes and more. In all these cases, the hard drive becomes RAW and all of the hard drive partitions and stored data become inaccessible. The exFAT data recovery is the only way to resolve this problem.
exFAT file recovery is potential through powerful and advanced third party applications, known as exFAT recovery software. These applications use efficient scanning mechanisms to thoroughly scan entire storage media and retrieve lost, missing and inaccessible hard drive partitions.
These exFAT data recovery applications have self-descriptive and interactive graphical user interface that let you carry out quick, easy and absolute exFAT file recovery. You can use these exFAT recovery tools on any sorts of storage media such as hard drive, flash drive, USB drive and so forth.
